Build Day is Here!!!

It is time to come together to build !!! Have fun everyone:)

WE DID IT!!!

We reached our goal...actually we surpassed it! Thank-you to all of you who supported us!!!

Children's Activities

On build day we will be providing crafts and activities for the children. This will take place between 10:00-2:00. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children who do take part will also be asked to stay with the group and not wander around during the activities.  We are expecting a great number of children so to be better prepared we are asking that you email Tracy Cassell: tracy_cassellymca@hotmail.com or call Melissa at 676-2396 to give the names and ages of the children that will be attending. Also any teenagers or parents that would like to help out with these activities on build day are asked to please contact us. Please note that this is not child care for the day. These requirements are for the safety of all the children.

Recycling Blitz!!!

After everything was sorted and counted the total came to an amazing $1750. Wow! Since that will be doubled another $3500 will go towards our goal....Thank-you to the people who came out to help. We know your tme is vauable and we appreciate your hard work!!!

You have come through for us again...

First of all congratulations to all of the lucky winners. The auction was again a huge success and put us one more step closer to our goal!!!A special THANK-YOU to Rev. Yvonne and Sister Genevieve for all of the endless hours you put into to make this auction a reality and to raise almost $4700 for the playground!!!The people of the communities once again showed true community spirit by coming out to support our efforts.  Thank-You!!!

Thank You!!!

The Family Fun Day was a HUGE success!!! We want to say Thank-You to all of the volunteers who came to help us in so many ways!!! Without your support this day would not have been possible.
 also a big Thank-You to everyone who came to play games, have a lunch and even go to jail to help and support our fundraising. In total there was $3500 raised for the Playground!!! WOW!WOW!WOW!

Patio Set

Tickets on the patio set (pictured in the slide show below) are for sale. They are $1.00 each. You can purchase tickets at Gander Bay Building Supplies or from any of the committee members. Make sure you get your name in on the chance to win this beautiful set! Thank each of you for your continued support.

Request

During our recent meeting with Ian Hill (The founder of Let Them Be Kids) he asked the committee members for names of community members that were working in Fort McMurray. He stated that
several companies in Fort McMurray have offered to donate to specific projects such as ours. He wanted to know the names of the people and the companies they worked for. To fulfill this request we are asking you to forward any names to us so that we can pass this along to him. Our email address is gbraltbk@gmail.com

UpComing Events

BINGO

On Tuesday July 10th and every second Tuesday after there will be bingo at the Wing's Point Firehall. Various Prizes throughout the summer. Come join in the fun and help our children's
wishes come true at the same time.

Family Fun Day

Everyone is invited to join us on Saturday, August  25th for a day of fun! Come out to play games, have a lunch, maybe even find something to buy at our giant yard sale:) 

DANCE

On September 8th there will be an adult dance. Music will be provided by Rex Bursey.

50/50 Draw

Our committee has 50/50 tickets to sale for $2 each. $2000 for the winner and $2000 for the playground. If you would like to purchase tickets or can help with the selling of tickets please contact one of our committee members. Draw date will be July 15^th.

Hot Roast Beef Supper

On July 5^th the committee and community volunteers will be selling hot roast beef dinners. The cost of dinners is $10 and you can eat in or take out. This includes dessert. You will receive a phone call in the next week or so from a committee member taking orders. If you would like to help out with this fundraiser please contact one of our committee members.

BINGO...BINGO...BINGO...BINGO

Family Bingo will take place on June 26th at the Wings Point Community Centre.  Doors open at 6:30 and Bingo starts at 7.  This is a family bingo so it’s open to everyone.  Kids grade 6 and under must have adult supervision.  Prizes will be Food Hampers of all sorts.  There will be items on tickets and a canteen available.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Mega Recycling Blitz on June 19 at the school.  All proceeds in aid of the playground!!!

Dot-Mocracy

Everyone is invited to attend our dot-mocracy event on Monday, May 28th at Riverwood Academy. Each child in attendance will select their preference for the equipment they would like to see in the PLAYGROUND! It starts at 1:30...Come and join in the fun!

A huge Thank-You is extended to all of the people who registered last night and today. We not only passed the registration number of 120...WE DOUBLED IT! We definitely proved that COMMUNITY SPIRIT exists here! We look forward to working with each and every one of you during these next fews months until BUILD DAY on SEPTEMBER 29th! 

Exciting News

Riverwood Academy and surrounding communities are proud recipients of a National Award.  Our playground committee consisting of 11 moms and our school principal will work together with the school and community to develop a School Yard Playground and Community Park. Our goal is to promote healthy living and active lifestyles to all students and residents of our communities. We want to promote pride and ownership within our community and at the same time to create a safe and caring place for all citizens young and old to gather.

Penny Drive

Riverwood Academy is holding a Penny Drive at the school.  Jars have been placed in all classes from K-12. There will be a Pizza Party for a class in Primary/Elementary and one for a class in Junior/Senior High who raises the most money!!!!
